Week 6 · Session 4
Keep going
A method, a plan, and the last recording.
~40 minSelf-check

You are watching a show and you miss a line. The best first move is:
A rising pitch at the end of a statement makes you sound:
Watch: how to keep going without a course
12 minutes
This is your method for the next year. Notice that her Tip 3 is almost exactly the Couldn't-Catch List you have been keeping — listen, pause, write what you caught, then check. You have already been doing the thing she recommends. Now you keep doing it without us.
Write your plan
8 minutes
A plan you actually follow beats an ambitious one you abandon. Keep it small.
Her Tip 5 is the one to take most seriously: five or six phrases per session, really learned, beats a hundred half-learned. Trying to learn too much is the most common way people stop.
Prepare for your final recording
4 minutes
Your last class opens with the final recording. Same paragraph, same free-speaking task as Week 1 and Week 3. Then all three are played in order.
Bring:
- Your Week 1 baseline and Week 3 midpoint recordings.
- Both Workshop recordings — Week 1 and Week 6 — of the same six words.
- Your sorted Couldn't-Catch List and your bucket counts.
- The questions you wrote in Session 3.
Do not practice the paragraph in advance. A rehearsed final recording tells you nothing.
Record your last voice note
3 minutes
“Tell me about a time you could not understand someone speaking English. Where were you? What happened?”
You have seen this before. It is the same question you answered in Week 1, Voice Note 1 — six weeks ago, before any of this.
Record it first. Then, and only then, go back and listen to the Week 1 version. Save the new one as “Week 6 — Voice Note 3”.
One last thing
3 minutes
Almost every video in this course was made by one teacher who gives them away for nothing. You have now watched twenty-six of them.
Say thank you to Rachel's EnglishAnd that is the course. Go and be misunderstood occasionally, in public, on purpose. It is the only way this gets easier.
