Put it together

Full speed, no captions, and get ready for class.

~40 min

Quick self-check

5 minutes
Fast speech is hard mostly because…
You hear “Jeet yet?” at lunchtime. It means:

Watch: linking with the TH sound

9 minutes
How to Link the TH SoundRachel's English · Tap to play. Pause and replay as much as you want — replaying is the method, not cheating.
Why this one: TH sits inside the most common small words in English — the, this, that, them, they, there. Those words are everywhere and they almost never stand alone. She shows ten real examples in slow motion.

Listen at full speed with nothing to help you

8 minutes

Go back to the Stress-Timed Language video from Session 3 and play any one minute of it — but this time turn the captions off.

The rule for this step: you are listening for the gist, not for every word. If you can say what that minute was about in one sentence, you passed. Missing words is normal and expected at full speed.

Then turn the captions back on and play the same minute again. Notice which words you had missed. Those go on your Couldn't-Catch List.

Shadow for thirty seconds

5 minutes

Pick any thirty seconds of that video. Play it and talk at the same time as her — not after her. You will fall behind. That is fine, jump back in.

Shadowing is not about the words. It is about copying the rhythm — where the loud parts land. Do it three times.

Record your third voice note

3 minutes
“What was the hardest thing for you this week? What was easier than you expected?”

Save it as “Week 1 — Voice Note 3”.

Get ready for your live class

4 minutes

Bring these four things. Your teacher needs all of them:

  • Your three voice notes plus the Workshop recording.
  • Your Couldn't-Catch List — at least three entries.
  • One question you want answered.
  • One sentence you heard this week and could not decode.
Week 1 is finished. Week 2 opens up the same three ideas inside real conversation between two people.
